Israel – an unexpected detour

Due to the volcano in Iceland, we had to find another way to get home from Timisoara, Romania. The Munich, Baha'i GardensGermany to Atlanta, Georgia flight was canceled every day leading up to our departure. If we took a chance and waited until our scheduled departure date to see if the flight was canceled, we could have been stranded in Munich or Timisoara from 4 – 7 days waiting for open seats on those same flights when they were finally allowed to fly. Since they were canceled due to an act of nature, we would have had to take the same route. We would not have been able to use the fare to schedule a new route home.

JerusalemWe flew to Timisoara with another member of the Waterford team who is from Haifa, Israel. She suggested that we Me on a camelreschedule flights through Tel Aviv, Israel before our flights were canceled. Everything looked like our flights would be canceled, so we rescheduled. This allowed us to spend two days in Israel.

We were able to spend one day in Haifa and see that city, which included the Baha’i Gardens. The next day, we went to Jerusalem before flying from Tel Aviv to Atlanta that night at midnight. It was an unexpected detour, but a welcome opportunity to see Israel.

Yes, that is me on a camel. One more thing to cross of my bucket list!
