I had a chance to return to Timisoara, Romania in April 2010. The city has changed since my last visit over a year ago. It was good to be back. Many of the buildings in the downtown area have undergone exterior renovations. The city is b
eginning to lose it’s old look (a little). It will take a long time before all the old charm is gone. I prefer the older look, but I know the city is trying to modernize and become more of a tourist attraction. There were definitely more people in the street and walking the sidewalks during this visit.
My return flights were in jeopardy on this trip due to the Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption in Iceland. All european flights were canceled for se
veral days. The ban on flights went right up to our departure flights. 10′s of thousands of flights were canceled and many people were left stranded in airports trying to find any available seat on any flight to get them to their destination. The trip was fun, but the return was adventurous — to say the least.
